Hate crime affects all aspects of society and can have a devastating impact on individuals and communities. It is vastly under reported for many reasons. ASB, Housing & Community Safety Officers are well placed to encourage reporting and to respond to reports. Frontline Officers can make a huge difference by understanding the issues, raising awareness and helping victims to access the support they need.
The course looks at what hate crimes & hate incidents are, the impact, barriers to reporting, action that can be taken to support those who disclose hate crimes and good practice. Exercises and case studies will be used to embed learning and share good practice
