Who should attend?

Housing officers, ASB / Community safety officers, Tenancy Enforcement officers, ASB team Leaders, Police officers

Objectives

• How to recognise when someone lacks mental capacity
• Make a referral for support under the Care Act 2014 applying the National Minimum Eligibility criteria
• Understanding the Equalities Act and the Public Sector Equality Duty

Course content includes:

• Differentiating between vulnerability, disability and incapacity
• An introduction to the Care Act, s9 (need for support) and s42 (safeguarding)
• Mental Capacity Act 2005– what it means to lack capacity
• The meaning of ‘disability’, ‘discrimination’ and the ‘Public Sector Equality duty’
